Description

The Walter Sisulu University is located in the Eastern Cape and was formed in 2005 after a merger of three different universities in the province. The university was named after a struggle icon who was a close personal friend of Nelson Mandela. It focuses on urban renewal as well as rural development in local communities. 

Students are encouraged to engage with the local community, as one of the values of the university is to provide service to community, businesss, and industry.

The university prides itself on providing a technological, innovative, and responsible environment for students and staff alike. There are more than 30 000 students studying at this institution across the four campuses. All students aim to play a powerful role in the development of the country. The values of this institution include offering an educationally vibrant atmosphere, academic freedom, as well as a focus on student development.
