Description
The University of Venda is a rural-based university with its campus in Thohoyandou in Limpopo province. It was formed in 1982 under the then-Republic of Venda government. The staff is as diverse as the university itself, with some coming from far-afield countries and continents. Its focus has shifted to the sciences and technology, aiming to produce alumni who will become future-focused leaders.
The university strives to maintain their African roots in their courses and their ethos. One of their goals is to remain responsive to the developmental needs of South Africa and its nearby rural communities by providing education and skills.
The vision and mission of the University of Venda are to be at the centre of tertiary education for rural development in Southern Africa. Their values include accountability, transparency, integrity, diversity and respect. The university strives to contribute to the betterment of its communities and provides students with a holistic approach to learning.
