University of South Africa (UNISA)

The University of South Africa (UNISA) is one of the most popular institutions in South Africa, allowing students to achieve their goals through distance learning. It was founded in 1873, and in 1946 it became one of the first public universities in the world to teach solely via distance learning. UNISA is proud of the fact that it continues to offer education regardless of race, socio-economic status, or belief system.  One of their future goals is to maintain a paperless environment. This will be done by striving to provide every student with a tablet or device for learning. There are almost 400 000 students who study through UNISA, and the research programmes are some of the highest-rated in the country. Their values include the upholding of ethical responsibilities, striving for innovation and excellence, as well as a student-centric learning approach.
