Institute of Business Management

The Institute of Business Management in the Western Cape is a fully accredited training provider of public office administration, business, management and local government courses. It provides official Sector Education and Training Authorities (SETA) skills training programmes to those who wish to improve their skills. The establishment’s goal is to lower the number of underskilled professionals in the public financial sector. 

Before the institute was formed in 1973, there were no training courses available for business management in the smaller rural business community. After restructuring in the early years, the institute began to specialise in distance learning. To help with this training and to improve the student experience, the staff developed in-house audio and visual aids for students. 

It developed a Diploma in Business management in 1995 and was one of the first private institutions to submit a course for accreditation.
